The archipelago of the Azores is located about 1500 km west from the European mainland and 3600 km east of the American continent. Politically, it belongs to Portugal but is administratively an autonomous region of Portugal. As part of Portugal, the stunning islands also belong to the European Union and use the Euro as currency.

The nine main islands are generally divided into three groups. To the west we find the "Grupo Ocidental" with the islands of Corvo and Flores, in the middle there’s the "Grupo Central" with the stunning islands of Faial, Pico, São Jorge, Graciosa and Terceira, and finally the south-eastern islands form the group "Grupo Oriental "with Santa Maria and the largest island of the Azores São Miguel, which is also the home of the capital of the Azores, Ponta Delgada.

The Azores are very diverse and offer visitors to the islands, different impressions and experiences. Flores like the name says boasts of lovely exotic flowers. The central island group is like the rest of the Azores of volcanic origin. On the island Pico you’ll also find the highest elevation of the Azores – the Pico. But there’s more to these islands. They also offer stunning nature - both on land and in the ocean. These waters are called home to many marine species - including 27 different species of whales and dolphins, which can be experienced on the offered trips. The southern islands impress with breathtaking natural beauty covered with waterfalls, volcanic lakes and forests surrounded by the blue of the Atlantic.

But it’s not only the nature that’s impressive – there are also many historic towns and villages on the islands that are always worth a visit.
