Dolphins and whales of Gomera

The Ocean Southwest of La Gomera offers a unique variety of marine mammals. 20 different varieties of dolphins and whales have been spotted already. Each species moves and passes freely through this part of the Atlantic. No "pod" - as they are called - resides permanently on a specific spot.

Often it's possible meet the following dolphins:

Bottlenose dolphins or a small group of Rough-Toothed dolphins, the fast Striped or Common dolphins. Sometimes the boat is surrounded by Atlantic Spotted dolphins. You also can meet Pilot whales and the rare Beaked whales. Sometimes we meet big whales such as Finback, Sei-, Spermwhales.

We are never short of surprises in this area!

It is important for us to treat these marvellous creatures with respect. They are the hosts and we are the guests.

Often we feel invited - they show a mutual interest in us.

The encounters are very versatile: Sometimes we can be just quiet observers ( e.g. when they are fishing). Sometimes we can follow them on their journey from somewhere to nowhere. Sometimes we encounter large pods, sometimes small groups of three to ten creatures. 

Other times they ride the bow waves and come very close. Sometimes they just want peace and quiet and be left alone. That's how it is with wild dolphins and whales in their natural habitat.
 

Ocean Weeks - Magic of the Ocean

Holidays "on land" on La Gomera filled with adventurous boat trips. Encounters with wild dolphins and whales. Opportunities to snorkel in shallow bays. Swimming and bathing. Fantastic colourful sunsets. Enjoying the ocean itself.

The excursions take place on an original canarian, transformed fishing boat with a maximum of 10 people. The boat contains plenty of areas to sit and lay. It is approved of all security measures, and it is easy to get into close contact with the marine mammals.

La Gomera is a versatile, wild and romantic island. It is the most gorgeous of all the canary islands. Besides the famous, always great "rainforest", it offers lots of hiking paths, further cultural outings, as well as bays and beaches for swimming and sun bathing. 

Children are welcome!

The free days can be filled with: beach visits, hiking trips, cycling. diving, meditating. individual sessions etc.

You always can extend your stay at the appartment after the Ocean Week upon request. (ask for prices)
