Dolphin Contact - Swimming with dolphins
Even though the ocean is not our element it fascinates us, and the presence of dolphins gives the feeling of freedom, carefree joy and security – to be one with the mother earth.
Swim with dolphins means getting an insight into their lives - watch them as they raise their young, feed, mate, or even just dance in the bow waves of the boat.
The guides know the waters around the island of Pico for many years and have a lot of experience with the various dolphin schools. They’ll decide during the trip whether the situation is appropriate to swim with the dolphins, and whether the behaviour of the dolphins shows that they might allow eye-contact under water. At all times the respect for the dignity of the dolphins is the first priority. Our guides will help you to prepare for your contact with these animals. This includes for example how you behave in the water, so you do not disturb the animals and still get full value of this truly magnificent dolphin experience.
The ocean is different every day and we will find very different situations out there. There’s no guarantee that we find an appropriate group of dolphins to swim with during each trip. To really get a good insight into the lives of dolphins, we advise a minimum of 6 trips. On our excursions we often also see whales or turtles, sometimes even a blue marlin or a sunfish. Let’s see what kinds of sea life we’ll see during your trip...
